Introduction
Conetus ("we", "our", "us") treats personal information of users, vendors or partners ("Users", "You", "Your") of the Conetus platform/website "www.conetus.space" and the Conetus mobile app (hereinafter called the "Services") as private and confidential. The Services are operated by Conetus Technologies Limited, a company incorporated in Nigeria, which is responsible for your personal information as described in this Policy.
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of (regardless of means of access) our Services. You may access or use our Services through a desktop, laptop, mobile phone, tablet, or other consumer electronic device (each, a "Device").

This Policy applies to usage of the Services as well as information contained on thereon, particularly, information related to products and services offered by Conetus. Conetus is committed to ensuring that Your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using the Services, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this Policy.
You may be asked to provide your personal information anytime you are in contact with Conetus or Conetus's Licensor. Conetus or Conetus's Licensor may share this personal information with each other and use it consistent with this Privacy Policy. They may also combine it with other information to provide and improve our products, services, content, and advertising. You are not required to provide the personal information that we have requested, but, if you chose not to do so, in many cases we may not be able to provide you with our products or services or respond to any queries you may have.
1. Information We Collect

Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our partners use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit Conetus, and this may include using cookies or similar technologies to identify your browser or device. We also use these technologies to collect and store information when you interact with services we offer. These technologies help us better understand user behaviour, tell us which parts of our websites people have visited, and facilitate and measure the effectiveness of advertisements and web searches. We treat information collected by cookies and other technologies as non-personal information. However, to the extent that Internet Protocol (IP) addresses or similar identifiers are considered personal information by Nigerian law, we also treat these identifiers as personal information. Similarly, to the extent that non-personal information is combined with personal information, we treat the combined information as personal information for the purposes of this Privacy Policy.
Conetus also uses cookies and other technologies to remember personal information when you use our website, online services, and applications. Our goal in these cases is to make your experience with Conetus more convenient and personal. For example, knowing your first name lets us welcome you the next time you visit the Conetus Platform. And knowing your contact information, hardware identifiers, and information about your computer or device helps us personalize your operating system and Services.
You may also set your browser to block all cookies, including cookies associated with our services, or to indicate when a cookie is being set by us. Please note that certain features of the Conetus website will not be available once cookies are disabled.
As is true of most internet services, we gather some information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type and language, Internet service provider (ISP), referring and exit websites and applications, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information to understand and analyse trends, to administer the site, to learn about user behaviour on the site, to improve our product and services, and to gather demographic information about and from our user. Conetus may use this information in our marketing and advertising services. When you are signed in, the product analytics events we record are linked to your account email address.
2. How We Use Your Data
We will only collect the information that is necessary for its specified, concrete, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner that is incompatible with those purposes.
We may process your personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, with your consent, for compliance with a legal obligation to which Conetus is subject, for the performance of a contract to which you are party, in order to protect your vital interests, or when we have assessed it is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by Conetus or a third party to whom it may be necessary to disclose information.
To manage and improve our processes and our business operations.
We will use your personal information:
- To create and manage user accounts and verify email addresses
- To enable service provider profiles and portfolios
- To review business listings and their payment, and to show and manage the Verified badge
- To provide the provider dashboard (managing customers, tracking the jobs a provider does for them, insights, and job tracking links)
- To review, publish, and display approved public job and openings in the jobs feed
- To review, publish, and display approved places and events on Discover, and additional business locations
- To show you providers, jobs, places, events, and TownTalk for the location on your profile
- To facilitate reviews and improve trust on the platform
- To match service requests with relevant providers and share your request and contact details with them so they can respond to you
- To send transactional and service emails such as request notifications to providers, response notifications to requesters, listing approvals, renewal and expiry reminders, and account or support messages
- To send push notifications to the Conetus mobile app, such as new messages, request matches and responses, listing approvals, TownTalk replies, "@all" mentions, pinned announcements, and new jobs and events in your state
- To send email alerts about new jobs and events in your area, and other announcements, where you have opted in
- To operate the referral program, verify referrals, and award and track referral credit
- To manage plans, subscriptions, free trials, usage limits, paid listings, renewals, and payments, including confirming bank transfers
- To deliver in-app messages between customers and service providers, show your conversation history, and notify the recipient of a new message
- To operate TownTalk: show your messages, photos, replies and reactions to the room under your username, deliver "@all" mentions, show how many people are active, and review and publish pinned announcements
- To keep messaging and TownTalk safe: automatically checking messages and usernames for prohibited language before they are sent, limiting how quickly messages and "@all" mentions can be sent, honouring blocks and mutes, and reviewing content that users report
- To provide the Conai AI assistant, including processing your messages to generate responses, and to read flyers or screenshots you upload into a job or event form
- To count listing views, show owners how many people viewed their listing, and show popularity badges
- To process account deletion requests
- To keep the platform safe and prevent fraud or abuse
- To improve product performance and user experience
- To communicate important updates or support messages
3. Public vs Private Data
Some information is publicly visible to improve trust and discovery. This includes business profiles (including any Verified badge), portfolio content, reviews, approved public job and opening postings from the jobs feed, and approved places and events on Discover — including the contact details included in a posting or listing. The exception is a job paying ₦150,000 or more a month: its contact details and application instructions are shown only to users on a paid plan (Pro or Business), while the rest of the posting stays public. If you post a review anonymously, your name is not shown on it, but the review is still linked to your account in our records.
Data stored in the provider dashboard — such as customer names, phone numbers, and the provider's own job-tracking records — is private and only accessible to the provider who created it. The one exception is a job tracking link: anyone the provider shares that link with can view that job's details and progress. These private dashboard work records are separate from the public job postings described above, and we do not use or share dashboard data for marketing purposes.
If you post a job on behalf of someone else, only include their contact details with their consent, since approved postings are shown publicly.
Listing owners can see how many times their listing was viewed and roughly where views came from. We do not show owners who viewed their listing.
In-App Messages
Messages you exchange in the Conetus app are stored on our servers so that both of you can see the conversation on any device you sign in on. They are private: a conversation is visible only to you and the other person in it, never publicly. When you message a business, the conversation is with that business's account, so whoever manages the business on Conetus can read it.
Conetus staff do not read your messages as a matter of course. We access a conversation only to review a report made about it, to investigate fraud, abuse or a breach of our Terms of Use, or when required by law. When you report a message, a copy of that message and the recent messages around it is saved with your report so we can review it, even if the messages are later removed.
If you block someone, we keep a record of the block so they can no longer message you. The person you block is not told.
TownTalk
TownTalk is public. Messages, photos, replies, and emoji reactions you post in a state's room can be read by other Conetus users with a verified email, and are shown with your TownTalk username — not your name or email address. Anything you write in a message is visible to the room, so do not post personal details you would not want others to see. TownTalk push notifications sent to members of a room, such as reply alerts, activity nudges, and the notification everyone in the room may receive when you use "@all", can include your username and a preview of your message.
Pinned announcements are shown at the top of the room with your username. When you report a message or announcement, a copy of it and the recent messages around it is saved with your report so we can review it. Mutes and blocks you set in TownTalk only change what you see; the person is not told.
4. Legal Basis & Data Protection
We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and, to the extent it remains in force alongside the NDPA, the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (NDPR), together with guidance issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). By using Conetus, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in this policy. Where we rely on another lawful basis described in Section 2, such as performing our contract with you or our legitimate interests, we do so in line with the NDPA.
Some of the service providers listed in Section 6 store or process data outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred outside Nigeria, we do so only as permitted by the NDPA, relying on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' contractual data protection commitments.
We regularly review our compliance with our Privacy Policy. We also adhere to several self-regulatory frameworks. When we receive formal written complaints, we will contact the person who made the complaint to follow up within forty-two (42) days. We work with the appropriate regulatory authorities, including local data protection authorities, to resolve any complaints regarding the transfer of personal data that we cannot resolve with our users directly.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only:
- When required to operate core platform features
- With service providers — for example, when you submit a service request, we share your request and the contact details you provided with matching providers so they can respond to you
- With trusted third-party providers who help us operate the platform (see "Service Providers We Use" below), under agreements that protect your data
- With the person you are messaging — the messages you send, your name, and for businesses, the business name and photo
- With other TownTalk users — the messages, photos, replies, reactions, and announcements you post, shown with your username
- With anyone a provider shares a job tracking link with — the details and progress of that job
- Publicly, when you choose to make information available — such as a business profile, an approved job posting, or a place or event listing
- To comply with legal obligations
When you submit a service request, the contact details you include are shared with providers specifically so they can reach you about that request. Only include details you are comfortable sharing.
6. Service Providers We Use
We rely on trusted third-party services to run Conetus. These include:
- Google Firebase — sign-in and authentication, our database (for storing accounts, profiles, listings, requests, messages, TownTalk, and related data), and website analytics
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting our website and storing the images you upload, such as showcase photos, flyers, and TownTalk photos
- Resend — delivering the emails described above, and telling us whether each email was delivered
- Expo — delivering push notifications to your device, which for a new message or TownTalk post include the sender's name or username and a preview of the message
- Anthropic — the AI provider that powers the Conai assistant and reads flyers and screenshots into a form. The messages and images you send to these features are sent to Anthropic to generate a response
- Mixpanel — product analytics, to understand how the website and app are used
These providers process data on our behalf and only as needed to deliver their services. Payments are made by bank transfer from your own bank to Conetus Technologies Limited or with Referral Credit; we do not use a third-party card processor and do not collect your card details.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for the period necessary for the purpose of the information collection described in this Policy or any separate Policy provided for a specific product or the Service, or as required by applicable laws. Detailed retention periods are specified in the specific service or related product page. We will cease to retain and delete or anonymize personal information once the purpose of collection is fulfilled, or after we confirm your request for erasure, or after we terminate the operation of the corresponding product or service. An exception to this is personal information that we are processing for public interest, scientific, historical research or statistical purposes. We will continue to retain this type of information for longer than its standard retention period, where permitted based on applicable laws or your request, even if further data processing is not related to the original purpose of collection.
In-app messages are kept for as long as the conversation exists, so that both people can refer back to it. A conversation belongs to both people in it: if you delete your account, messages you have already sent may remain visible to the person you sent them to as part of their conversation history. To ask us to remove specific messages, contact us at hello@conetus.space. Reports, and the copies of messages saved with them, are kept for as long as we need them to keep the platform safe, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.
TownTalk messages and their photos are deleted automatically after 30 days. Reports about TownTalk content, and the copies saved with them, are kept as described above for in-app message reports.
Daily view counts for a listing are kept for 90 days. Push notification tokens are removed from your account when you sign out of the app on that device.
When you ask us to delete your account, we process the request within 30 days. Your profile, business listing, job postings, Discover listings, service requests, referral credit, and subscription record are deleted. We keep anonymised usage statistics that can no longer be linked to you, records we are legally required to keep (such as payment and tax records) for as long as the law requires, and the security and anti-fraud logs tied to your deletion request for 90 days.
8. Changes
Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. We will post any privacy policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of privacy policy changes). We will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive for your review.
9. Your Rights
You have rights we need to make you aware of. The rights available to you depend on our reason for processing your personal information and the local law in your jurisdiction, including the NDPA, and there are exceptions to some rights. Depending on this you may have the right to:
- Withdraw your consent to us processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes
- Ask us about the processing of your personal information including to be provided with copies of your personal information
- Ask us to correct information you think is inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your personal information — you can request this yourself at conetus.space/delete-account
- Ask us to restrict the processing of your information
- Object to our processing of your personal information
- Ask that we transfer information you have given us from one organisation to another, or to give it to you
- Turn off push notifications for each category in the app's Settings, and unsubscribe from email alerts
- Complain to your local data protection authority — in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)
For your protection, and to protect the privacy of others, we may need to verify your identity before completing what you have asked us to do.
Where we have relied upon your permission to use your personal information, and you later withdraw that permission, we may not be able to complete some of the activities described in 'How do we use your personal information'.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we encourage users to protect their account credentials.
11. Our Responsibility Regarding Websites That We Do Not Own or Control
Our websites and applications may contain links to websites or mobile applications we do not own or control. Our Privacy Notice does not cover them. Please read the privacy notices on those websites and mobile applications if you would like to find out how they collect, use and share your personal information.
12. Summary

We will be happy to hear from you. If you have an unresolved privacy or data use concern that we have not addressed to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to contact us within 14 days of such feedback or resolution at hello@conetus.space.
